DermaV

Introducing DermaV™ at Exactly Dermatology, Aesthetics and Health – the future of vascular and pigment treatments is now available in Madison

What is DermaV?

DermaV is an advanced, dual-wavelength (532nm and 1064nm) laser platform equipped with intelligent cryogen cooling. Unlike conventional lasers, it effectively treats both redness (vascular) and brown spots (pigment) with minimal discomfort. Clinically proven, DermaV is effective in treating rosacea, facial veins, age spots, and even pediatric port wine stains.

The “IntelliTone™” Advantage

Unlike traditional technology that necessitated painful contact cooling, DermaV employs “Cryogen Spray Cooling”. This innovative approach enables us to treat the intricate angle of your nose or the rim of your ear without compromising contact—a capability that contact cooling probes lack.

  • No Gel Required: We treat clean, not sticky.
  • No Purpura: Studies show absolutely no bruising, unlike traditional vascular lasers. You leave looking pink, not bruised.
  • Faster Treatments: High peak power allows for large spot sizes, covering the face in minutes.

Tired of Seeing Red?

Do you conceal your cheeks every morning?

Your Treatment Journey

Before Your Appointment:

  • Wisconsin Sun Protection: Even in winter, UV rays reflect off snow. Use SPF 30+ daily for 2-4 weeks pre-treatment.
  • Stop Retinols: Discontinue Retin-A, glycolics, and exfoliants 5-7 days prior.
  • Shave: Shave the treatment area 1-3 days prior (men: face; legs: body).
  • Medications: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, and fish oil for 3-7 days (if medically safe). Inform us of any antibiotics like doxycycline.
  • Day of Treatment: Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotions, deodorant, or self-tanner.

Day of Treatment:

  • Comfort: DermaV’s cryogen spray cooling keeps you comfortable. Patients rate pain at 2-3/10 — no topical anesthesia required.
  • Speed: Sessions range from 5–20 minutes. You can drive yourself home.
  • The “Snap” Sensation: You will feel a light snap followed by a cool burst of spray.

After Your Appointment:

  • Immediate: You may look like you have a mild sunburn for 1-3 hours.
  • Makeup: You can apply mineral makeup the next day if no blisters or crusting are present.
  • Gym & Hot Yoga: Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming, and saunas for 2-3 days. (Yes, that includes hot yoga on Monroe St.!)
  • Sunscreen is Non-Negotiable: Madison summers are intense; post-treatment skin is vulnerable to hyperpigmentation. Use SPF 50+ religiously.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many treatments will I require?

A: Most conditions necessitate three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Some pigmented lesions may resolve in one to two sessions, while vascular conditions such as rosacea may necessitate maintenance treatments.

Q: Is DermaV safe for individuals with darker skin tones?

A: Yes! DermaV is FDA-cleared for all Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI. The intelligent cooling system and adjustable wavelengths render it safer for skin of color compared to many other lasers.

Q: What distinguishes DermaV from IPL?

A: DermaV employs specific laser wavelengths (532nm and 1,064nm) that target blood and melanin with greater precision than IPL’s broad-spectrum light. Consequently, it yields superior results with fewer sessions and reduced risk.

Q: Can DermaV treat my child’s port wine stain?

A: Yes, DermaV is highly effective for pediatric patients. The comfortable cooling system enables many children to undergo treatment without general anesthesia—a significant advantage over older laser technologies.

Q: Will I experience bruising or downtime?

A: Unlike pulsed dye lasers (PDL) that frequently cause purpura (bruising), DermaV treatments typically result in only mild redness that subsides within one to three days. You can resume work and social activities immediately.

Q: How does this differ from laser hair removal I have previously undergone?

A: DermaV’s dual wavelengths and high peak power enable effective hair removal on all skin types, including darker skin that many other lasers cannot treat safely.
